The Historical Society of Topsail Island is proud to present Lauren McCoy who will speak about State Archives Folktales & Spooky Stories.
About our speaker…
Lauren McCoy is the Digital Archivist for Online Programming at the State Archives of North Carolina. This role sees her wearing many different hats, from running the archives’ social media accounts to researching and producing both written and video content highlighting North Carolina history and how to effectively research at the State Archives. Before taking on this role in 2022, she spent more than four years as a Reference Archivist, granting her a wealth of hands-on experience with North Carolina’s history, people, and places through its records.
Lauren originally hails from Alabama and received her Bachelor of Arts in History at Auburn University before attending UNC-Chapel Hill to accomplish a Master of Science in Library Science. In 2021, Lauren married a North Carolina native, with whom she is expecting her first little Tar Heel in December. She and her husband reside in Durham, where they enjoy gardening and exploring the area with their two dogs.
