The Historical Society of Topsail Island is proud to present Kenneth S. Chestnut, Sr., son of founder Wade H Chestnut, Sr., and is currently serving as Treasurer, Ocean City Beach Citizens Council
About our speaker…
Kenneth S. Chestnut Sr. is the retired president and CEO of IBG Construction Services LLC, a company he founded in Atlanta in 1998. A graduate of Williston Senior High School in Wilmington, he majored in civil engineering at Duke University. Chestnut, a Vietnam War veteran, has served on various nonprofit boards in Atlanta and holds the title of trustee emeritus at Oglethorpe University.
After retiring, he returned to Wilmington, where he remains deeply engaged in the community. He is active in his church, serves as a commissioner for the Wilmington Housing Authority, mentors students at Williston Middle School, and sits on the board of the Cape Fear Community Land Trust.

The Topsail Beach Missiles and More Museum had a surprise visit from Mr. Earl James, curator of the North Carolina Museum, Mr Craig Torrey, Ocean City Jazz Festival chairperson, Mr Kenneth Chestnut, son of the Ocean City, NC founders, and a crew from PBS. They filmed and spoke about the recently added Ocean City exibit. The segment will be presented on PBS early June 2025.
