Oyster Stories: A History of Oysters and Oystering on the North Carolina Coast explores an important part of North Carolina’s coastal history and traditions. The program is sponsored by Conserve the Point.
Historian and writer David Cecelski is the author of several award-winning books and hundreds of articles about the history of the North Carolina coast. A graduate of Duke and Harvard, he has held distinguished professorships at Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill and East Carolina University.
His honors include lifetime achievement awards from the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association and the North Carolina Coastal Federation. A native of the North Carolina coast, his work has focused on telling stories from his home that illuminate the broader history of America.
